Matruvandan - One Tree in Mother's Name

Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown successfully conducted the "Matruvandan, One Tree in Mother's Name" project at a Zilla Parishad School, following a request from the school. Each student received a coconut sapling to plant and nurture at home in the name of their mother. Two coconut trees were also planted on the school campus as a symbol of the initiative. The project beautifully aligned with Rotary's 2026-27 theme, "Create Lasting Impact." It combined environmental conservation with gratitude towards mothers, creating an emotional connection that will continue to grow for generations. A simple, sustainable, and high-impact project that was appreciated by students, parents, and teachers alike. 🌴💚

Free BMD & Health Check Up Camp Community Service

Free BMD & Health Check Up Camp

The Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown successfully organized a Free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp on 16 July 2026 at Om Physiotherapy Clinic, Ratnagiri, to mark the birthday of Club President Rtn. Dr. Sandeep Kare. The camp received an overwhelming response, with 60 beneficiaries undergoing free Bone Mineral Density screening for early detection of osteoporosis and bone health issues. The initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare and create awareness about maintaining healthy bones. Adding to the spirit of service, Dr. Swapna Kare distributed medicines worth more than ₹6,000 free of cost to deserving patients, ensuring that many participants received both diagnosis and immediate support. The Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, healthcare staff, and well-wishers who contributed to the success of this meaningful community service project. The smiles, blessings, and appreciation received from the beneficiaries made the occasion truly memorable and reinforced Rotary's commitment to "Service Above Self."

Tree Plantation Drive at Kolambe, Ratnagiri

As part of our environmental initiative, the Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown organized a Tree Plantation Drive. A total of 100+ trees including Mango, Cashew and other native saplings were planted in the temple premises and at Mr. Salvi’s plot. The drive was inaugurated by new member Dr. Fule, followed by Club President Dr. Sandeep Kare. All members participated enthusiastically. The club extends heartfelt thanks to Mr. Hirakant Salvi and family for hosting and supporting this green initiative. Life Skills Development for Professional Development

On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown President Rtn. Dr. Sandeep Kare delivered an interactive session on "Life Skills for Professional Development" at the Fisheries College and Fisheries Engineering Polytechnic, Shirgaon, Ratnagiri. The session focused on communication skills, leadership, teamwork, time management, emotional intelligence, decision-making, self-confidence, and professional ethics. Students actively participated through discussions and a question-and-answer session, making the program highly engaging. The initiative aimed to prepare young people for successful careers by strengthening essential life and employability skills beyond academic knowledge. Beneficiaries: 85 students, along with faculty members and staff from the Fisheries College and Fisheries Engineering Polytechnic, Shirgaon.

Rtn. Dr. Sandeep Kare was installed as President, Rtn. Sitaram Sawant as Secretary, and Rtn. Vinayak Nikam as Treasurer. The installation was officiated by Installation Officer Rtn. Suhas Joshi, DGND RID 3172. The ceremony was attended by distinguished Rotary leaders including DGND Rtn. Ashok Naik (RID 3171), Assistant Governor Rtn. Avinash Palshetkar, Assistant Governor Rtn. Shrikant Bhurke, club members, family members, and guests. Outgoing President Rtn. Dr. Swapna Kare reviewed the club's achievements during the previous Rotary year and thanked all members for their support. The annual report highlighted the club's impactful service projects across community service, healthcare, education, youth development, and environmental initiatives. During the ceremony, 4 new members were inducted into the club, strengthening its commitment to Service Above Self.

Cow Appreciation Day 2026

The Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown successfully celebrated Cow Appreciation Day - Gau Gaurav Din at Shantipeeth Vishwamangal Goshala, Someshwar. The visit was led by Rtn. Dr. Sandeep Kare, Rtn. Swapna Kare, Sitaram Sawant, Dada Kadam, Rupali Kadam, and Waman Sawant on behalf of the club. During the visit, members various products being made at the goshala, including phenyl, dhoop sticks, shenya, and govarya. The club extended support by purchasing these products, thereby encouraging the goshala's self-reliant initiatives. A cash donation was also presented to the goshala. All members participated in a Gau Pooja and celebrated Gau Gaurav Din with devotion and joy. To honor the spirit of service, the club also arranged breakfast for all the staff and volunteers serving at the goshala.

As part of the celebration, 31 doctors were felicitated for their dedicated service to the community. An insightful session on "Financial Fitness & Wealth Planning for Doctors" was organized, which was highly informative and well-received by all attendees. The program concluded with a fellowship lunch, providing an opportunity for members and guests to connect. The success of this event was made possible by the active involvement of 15 club members who contributed to planning, coordination, and execution. This celebration marked a meaningful start to Rotary Year 2026-27, bringing together the core values of Service, Fellowship, and Knowledge. Parent Awareness and Exhibition Programme

The Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown organized a "Parent Awareness Program" for parents at Biwani Balmandir and Bhide Aaji Khedkar School, Ratnagiri. Over 120 parents participated enthusiastically in the program. Renowned educationist and child psychologist Mrs. Asha Vasudev Gadre guided the parents on positive parent-child communication, discipline, building self-confidence, and understanding the psychological reasons behind children's behavior. She also spoke about the important role of parents in today’s competitive age. As part of the event, students displayed an impressive exhibition of useful items and artwork made from waste materials. The exhibition was inaugurated by the dignitaries present. The program was chaired by Club President Rtn. Dr. Sandeep Kare. The event was attended by school principals, teachers, non-teaching staff, and Rotary members. This initiative by Rotary was aimed at creating awareness among parents and proved to be highly beneficial for both parents and the school.

Blood Donation Drive at Fisheries College Shirgaon Ratnagiri

Rotary Club of Ratnagiri Midtown, Inner Wheel Club of Ratnagiri Midtown and College of Fisheries, Shirgaon, Ratnagiri jointly organized a successful Blood Donation Camp. As part of the new Rotary year beginning 1st July, the club dedicated the first service activity to saving lives through blood donation. The camp received enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers of College of Fisheries and College of Fisheries Engineering & Technology, Shirgaon. Doctors and staff from Government Medical College Ratnagiri and District General Hospital Blood Bank conducted the camp and ensured smooth execution. The event marked a meaningful start to the year, reflecting Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self.
